Re-reporting of syphilis in some areas in Zhejiang

Objective To analyze re-reporting of syphilis cases in some areas in Zhejiang, and provide evidence for the improvement of local syphilis reporting. Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted on the incidence data of syphilis during August-December, 2012, which were collected from 15 township health centers, 10 county hospitals and 8 city hospitals in Ningbo. Jiaxing, Wenzhou, Taizhou and Lishui. Compared with case data reported through network, the re-reported cases were determined. Results Among 730 syphilis cases, 48 were re-reported (46 were reported for two times, 2 were reported for three times). The re-reporting rate was 6.58%. The re-reporting rate in syphilis patients with medical insurance was lower than that in those without medical insurance. Conclusion The re-reporting of syphilis had influence on the prevention and control of syphilis, it is necessary to further improve the quality of syphilis reporting in Zhejiang.
