Abstract
Objective To understand the prevalence of AIDS and related risk behaviors in men who have sex with men (MSM) in Qujing, Yunnan province. Methods During 2010-2013, MSM were recruited by snowball sampling, and a questionnaire survey was conducted among them. Blood samples were taken from them for HIV, HCV and syphilis tests. Results A total of 400 MSM were surveyed. The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge ranged from 72% to 76%. The HCV positive rate ranged from 0 to 1%. The HIV positive rate ranged from 1% to 10%, the differences in annual positive rate were significant (χ2=17.447, P=0.039); The syphilis positive rate ranged from 0 to 6%, the differences in annual positive rate were significant Var(lnRR)=108.00, Pχ2=28.999, Pχ2=23.451, Pχ2=25.681, Pχ2=36.779, PConclusion It is necessary to strengthen the health education and intervention services among MSM to increase the AIDS related knowledge awareness and reduce the HIV infection and syphilis prevalence among them.
