Fine particulate matter and bronchial asthma

  • Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airway. In recent decades, the incidence of asthma increased in many countries, which has caused heavy social economic burden. Epidemiological studies indicated that air pollution is responsible for the increased incidence of asthma. Fine particular matter is one of the most important air pollutants .There were sufficient evidences suggesting that fine particular matter can cause exacerbations of pre-existing asthma. This paper summarizes the association between fine particular matter exposure and asthma.
