Epidemiological survey of a case of human infection with avian influenza A (H10N8) virus in Nanchang, Jiangxi, 2014

In February 2014, a cases of severe pneumonia with unknown origin was reported to Nanchang Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The case had poultry exposure history, and the clinical manifestations of the case included fever and tussicula. The chest X ray examination showed pathological changes. No secondary infections were detected in close contacts of the case in a 7 day follow up. According to the epidemiological history, clinical manifestations and laboratory detection results, the case was diagnosed with human infection with avian influenza A (H10N8) virus.
