Abstract
A food poisoning outbreak occurred in a kindergarten, 81 children were involved, the attack rate was 48.2%. The main symptoms were fever (100%), diarrhea (98.8%), stomachache (97.5%) and emesis (69.1%). Salmonella enteritidis was isolated from the patients' stool samples and food samples (fried ice with egg), which shared the same PFGE pattern and 96.2% similarity with the strains from swabs of raw eggs. The food poisoning was caused by S. enteritidis in eggs.
