  • Objective To understand the prevalence of HIV infection, syphilis and HCV infection among the male clients in sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics in Chengdu, Sichuan province, and provide evidence for the development of prevention and control measures. Methods The questionnaire interview was conducted among 400 male clients in STD clinics, and blood samples were collected from them for the serological detection of HIV, HCV and syphilis antibodies. Results In 400 male cases surveyed, the HIV, syphilis and HCV antibody positive rates were 5.50%, 16.00% and 0.25% respectively. The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge was 86.00%,but those who had received HIV/AIDS prevention intervention services only accounted for 11.18% in recent years.
