Analysis on the result of serological detection for brucellosis in Qingdao, Shandong,2014

Objective To understand the prevalence and underreporting of human brucellosis in Qingdao, Shandong province, for the further improvement of prevention and control of the disease. Methods Epidemiological survey was conducted among the suspected brucellosis cases detected in 2014 and serum Brucella antibody detection was conducted with rose bengal plate test and tube agglutination test. Results A total of 508 suspected brucellosis cases were detected, the seropositive rate was 35.43%, the sex specific difference was statistically significant (P 0.01). The age specific positive rate was highest in age group 40-60 years, the population specific positive rate was highest in people engaged in sheep raising and the area specific positive rate was highest in Pingdu. Conclusion The prevalence of brucellosis was detected in Qingdao, the prevention and control should be strengthened and health education for risk population should be improved.
