Investigation of awareness of Helicobacter pylori related knowledge among positive people detected in health examination

  • Objective To understand the awareness of Helicobacter plori related knowledge among the positive people detected in health examination, analyze the influence factors, and provide scientific evidence for the health education about H. pylori infection. Methods A self-prepared questionnaire was used for the H. pylori infection related knowledge investigation in outpatient department from August 2013 to February 2014. Results The investigation subjects were 336 people with positive H. pylori detection results. The subjects aged 16-30 years, 30-50 years and50 years accounted for 23.51%, 34.82% and 41.67% respectively. The difference was statistically significant (P0.05). The awareness rate on main transmission routes of H. pylori (saliva, unclean food, and poor health habits) was about 47.22%. The subjects with educational level lower than junior middle school accounted 31.25%, and the subjects with senior middle school or higher educational level accounted for 68.75%, Conclusion The awareness of H. pylori related knowledge varied among the subjects with different education levels and different occupations, targeted health education should be conducted to reduce the H. pylori infection in healthy population.
