Survey of foodborne disease outbreak caused by Salmonella stanley

  • To identify the pathogen causing 3 clusters of diarrhea cases and 1 suspected food poisoning event. Biological samples of the cases and related person, food and environmental samples were collected for the isolation of pathogen. Among the 19 samples collected, 10 were Salmonella stanley positive(4 from food samples, 5 from cases' stool samples and 1 from anal swab of one related person) and all the S. stanley strains shared same PFGE pattern. It was confirmed that the foodborne disease outbreak was caused by S. stanley.
