Etiologic detection of an outbreak of Salmonella typhimurium infection in Beijing, 2015

  • A cluster of diarrheal cases was reported in a big company in Beijing in May 2015, and Salmonella typhimurium outbreak was laboratory confirmed after epidemiological survey. The PFGE patterns of 18 strains isolated from the cases were the same, but different from that in Beijing Salmonella PFGE database. One of the 18 strains was resistant to 12 antibiotics, including ciprofloxacin and ceftriaxone, suggesting the necessity to strengthen drug resistance surveillance.
