Analysis on disease spectrum of acute flaccid paralysis in Beijing,2004-2015

  • Objective To understand the changes of disease spectrum of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP)in Beijing during 2004-2015. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted by using the AFP cases surveillance data in Beijing during this period. Results The reported non-polio AFP incidence in children under 15 years old ranged from 1.26/100 000 to 3.80/100 000.The clinical diagnosis of AFP cases included 45 diseases. The top 20 diseases caused 87.05% of all the AFP cases. There was a change in disease spectrum during this periods. Six diseases were always ranked in the top 10 diseases, 7 diseases were included in the top 10 diseases and 3 diseases were excluded from the top 10 diseases during the three 4 years periods (2004-2007,2008-2011,2012-2015). Conclusion In the future active AFP surveillance, more AFP related diseases should be considered and more key words can be used in related retrieval.
