Analysis of prevalence of HIV infection and migration of detained people with confusional sex in China, 2014

Objective To describe the HIV infection prevalence in detained people with confusional sex and their migration in China. Methods HIV prevalence survey was conducted in detained people with confusional sex in 32 provinces of China in 2014, their basic information were collected. The gender specific difference in epidemiological characteristics were analyzed with 2 test, the maps indicating province specific HIV prevalence and migration in the country of this population were drawn with software MapInfo 15.0. Results In 2014, a total of 80 660 detained people with confusional sex were surveyed, the overall HIV infection prevalence was 1.9% (1.9% in males, 1.5% in females). In some provinces, the HIV prevalence had significant difference. For both males and females, the migrations were mainly from central and southwestern provinces to eastern or developed provinces. For males, the HIV infection prevalence in migrants was higher than that in local residents(2=22.978, P=0.001), but for females, the HIV infection prevalence in migrants was lower than that in local residents(2=9.910, P=0.002). Conclusion The HIV infection prevalence is high in the detained people with confusional sex in China, and their migration in the country is frequent. It is necessary to strengthen the AIDS prevention and intervention in this population, especially in males.
