Abstract
Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS in men who have sex with men (MSM) in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, and provide evidence for the HIV/AIDS prevention and control of MSM population. Methods The HIV/AIDS epidemiological characteristics, awareness of AIDS related knowledge and high risk behaviors in MSM was analyzed, through the reporting epidemic data and sentinel surveillance in MSM during 2006-2016. Results By the end of 2016, a total of 3 817 HIV/AIDS cases had been reported in Ningbo, 1 315 HIV/AIDS cases were transmitted by MSM, accounting for 34.5% (1 315/3 817). The MSM HIV/AIDS epidemic was on the rise in 11 years. The demographic characteristics of 1 315 HIV/AIDS:Most of them were between 20 and 39 years old (70.5%), mainly of them were unmarried (62.6%),high school and above education (61.3%), non-local residents(61.6%). The cases were mainly reported by local CDC (51.4%). The detection samples were mainly from Voluntary Counsel and Test (VCT) clinics (36.7%), followed by STD clinics (15.7%), other clinics (14.8%) and other survey (12.5%). The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge in MSM was over 90% in 2014 and 2015, The HIV infection rate was between 5.2% and 10.2%. The syphilis prevalence was between 4.2% and 13.1%, and the HCV infection rate was between 0.0% and 3.0%. Conclusion MSM are still the high risk of HIV infection should be emphasized, and targeted prevention and control measures are in desperate needed.
