Abstract
Objective To understand the epidemiological and serological characteristics of brucellosis in Sichuan province and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of brucellosis. Methods The incidence data of human brucellosis in Sichuan from 2006-2016 were collected and analyzed. Serological surveillance was conducted in population with occupational exposure. The related data in livestock were collected. Results From 2006 to 2016,a total of 207 brucellosis cases were reported,an obvious increase in brucellosis incidence was observed during this period(2=303.21,P0.001). The cases were reported in all prefectures(municipality)except Panzhihua. During 2014-2016,the average annual incidence increased by 148.73% and the reported cases accounted for 86.96% of the total(180/207). A total of 15 011 human blood samples were collected, the positive rate was 1.55%. Sheep infection rate was in increase(2=21.18,P0.001). Conclusion Although brucellosis occurred sporadically in Sichuan during 2006-2016,the case distribution was wide, which suggesting that the prevention and control of brucellosis is still facing challenge. Brucella melitensis was predominant, indicating that sick sheep were the main infection sources. It is necessary to strengthen the cooperation between medical sector and veterinary sector, brucellosis surveillance both in human and livestock and livestock purification.
