Treatment outcomes of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis patients and influencing factors in Huzhou,Zhejiang

  • Objective To investigate treatment outcomes of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients and influencing factors in Huzhou,Zhejiang province, and provide evidence for the prevention and control of MDR-TB. Methods The study subjects included all the MDR-TB patients who completed the treatment for 24 months in Huzhou from October 2009 to June 2015. The information of MDR-TB patients were collected by using specific questionnaire. The treatment outcome was used as the dependent variable and other factors were used as independent variables in unconditional logistic regression analysis. Results Among 83 MDR-TB patients, the cure rate was 60.24%. Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that, compared with retreatment group, the odds ratio(OR)of newly treated group was 3.442(95% CI:1.071-11.033);compared with using no standardized treatment protocol, the OR of using standardized treatment protocol was 3.433(95% CI:1.238-9.190). Conclusion Early treatment and standardized treatment were the key factors influencing the treatment outcomes of MDR-TB patients.
