Conception of an integrated information system for notifiable disease communicable surveillance in China

Based on the evaluation of the development of notifiable communicable disease reporting information system in China,especially the development of electronic data exchange since Chinese information system for disease control and prevention was put into use in 2004,this paper summarizes the problems existing in notifiable diseases reporting system in China,and proposes an initiative of the construction of a dynamic integrated surveillance information system to collect surveillance data from electronic health record,electronic medical record and population health information system through data exchange for the dynamic and consecutive notifiable disease surveillance. This new system may improve the completeness and timeliness of surveillance and facilitate surveillance data sharing and comprehensive analysis.
