Analysis on death causes in floating population in Jinshan district of Shanghai, 2008–2016

  • ObjectiveTo understand the death causes in floating population in Jinshan district of Shanghai, and provide evidence for effective disease prevention and control.MethodsThe statistical analysis was conducted on the death cause data from 2008 to 2016, which were classified according to ICD-10, in the floating population in Jinshan.ResultsThe constituent of death in young and middle aged adults (15–59 years) was highest (59.80%). The first 3 death causes in floating population were traffic accident, cerebrovascular disease and AIDS, accounting for 15.24%, 10.12% and 8.36% respectively. AIDS was the second death cause in young males, and the constituent of AIDS death in males was higher than that in females (P<0.05). Cerebrovascular disease was the first cause of death in people aged ≥60 years.ConclusionThe deaths in floating population mainly occurred in young and middle aged adults from 2008 to 2016. Injury caused by traffic accident, cerebrovascular disease and AIDS were the major death causes in floating population in Jinshan during this period. It is necessary to take targeted health management measures to improve self-care awareness in floating population.
