Analysis on adverse pregnancy outcome of HIV-infected pregnant women and influencing factors in Guangdong, 2011−2020

  Objective   To investigate the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes of HIV-infected pregnant women and its influencing factors in Guangdong province and provide evidence to protect the health of HIV-infected pregnant women and exposed children.

  Methods   The information about3 438 HIV infected pregnant women in all districts and counties of Guangdong from 2011 to 2020 were analyzed by χ² test and non-conditional logistic regression model.

  Results   The incidence rate of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV infected pregnant women was 27.78% (955/3 438). The differences in education level, initial detection time, transmission route, parity, infection confirmation time and gestational hypertension on the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome had significance (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the ORs of adverse pregnancy outcomes in HIV-infected pregnant women who were infected by injecting drug use, had infection confirmation during or after delivery and had gestational hypertension were 1.65 (1.04−2.58), 0.61 (0.48−0.78) and 2.27 (1.35−3.80).

  Conclusion   Transmission route, infection confirmation time and gestational hypertension were related to adverse pregnancy outcomes of HIV-infected women in Guangdong during this period. It is necessary to attach great importance to the reproductive health of HIV-infected pregnant women, provide high-quality consultation and pregnancy health care services to protect the health of HIV-infected pregnant women and improve pregnancy outcomes.
