Objective To understand the genetic characteristics and molecular epidemiological characteristics of the VP1 region of coxsackievirus A10 (Cox A10) in Gansu province from 2014 to 2021.
Methods Bioinformatics analysis software MEGA11 and others were used to analyze the nucleotide and amino acid similarities of the VP1 region sequences of 59 Cox A10 strains isolated in Gansu, and a phylogenetic tree of the VP1 region sequences was constructed.
Results The Cox A10 strains isolated in Gansu from 2014 to 2021 all belonged to genotype C, further dividing into two subtypes, C1 and C2, and into 7 different branches, and 9 characteristic amino acid mutations were found in the VP1 region.
Conclusion Multiple variants of Cox A10 emerged in Gansu from 2014 to 2021. Therefore, it is important to strengthen the surveillance for Cox A10, understand the relationship between genetic variation of CoxA10 and clinical manifestation of Cox A10 infection. In addition, the analysis on molecular evolution and amino acid mutation of the VP1 region of Cox A10 can facilitate the epidemic strain tracing and precise classification, providing a strong supplement for traditional epidemiological investigation.
