Risk assessment of public health emergencies concerned in China, August 2024

  • Objective  To assess the risk of public health emergencies that might occur in China or be imported into China (except Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan province, the same below) in August 2024.
    Methods  Based on the reports of domestic and foreign public health emergencies and surveillance results of key infectious diseases or notifications from relative agencies and departments, the expert consultation conference was hold and experts from provincial (autonomous region and municipal) centers for disease control and prevention attended this conference through video terminal.
    Results  The incidence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is in increase, which might peak in August. The incidence of dengue fever is at high level. Sporadic cholera cases might continue to occur. The risks for food poisoning and heat stroke, waterborne, foodborne and vector-borne infectious diseases in flood-affected areas are at high levels.
    Conclusion Attention should be paid to the incidences of COVID-19, dengue fever, cholera, heat stroke, flood-related infectious diseases.
