Practice on translational preventive medicine:PulseNet

  • Currently, communicable diseases can rapidly spread worldwide with ease, and many countries increasingly attach great importance to communicable disease surveillance, especially to laboratory surveillance. PulseNet China is the National Molecular Subtyping Network for Bacterial Infectious Diseases in China, which playes a critical role in respond to bacterial infectious disease outbreaks in China ,and it is a model network for communication and collaboration among partners involved in communicable disease surveillance. This paper describes the current status of PulseNet China, and meanwhile, discusses the current challenges and the potential improvements for pathogen surveillance in China, including the needs to construct or adjust the system for Chinese pathogen surveillance.
