Surveillance of Saimonella in infectious diarrhea patients in Yuyao city of Zhejiang province,2007 - 2009

  • Objective To understand the infection status, serotype and drug susceptibility of Saimonella in infectious diarrhea patients in Yuyao and provide evidence for the prevention and clinical treatment. Methods The stool samples and rectal swabs were collected from infectious diarrhea patients to conduct bacteria enrichment, isolation, biochemical identification and serotyping according to GB/T 4789.4. The drug susceptibility test was performed according to WS/T 125 - 1999. Results Eighteen strains of Saimonella were detected from 719 stool samples (2.5%). The majority of the strains detected were Salmonella typhimurium O4(50.0%), followed by Salmonella enteritidis O9 (22.22%). Salmonella agone (1), Salmonella serogroup D (1). Salmonella serogroup C2 (1), Salmonella aberdeen (1) and Salmonella anatum (1) were detected too. All the strains were sensitive to cefoxitin, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, ofloxacin and imipenem. Seven drug resistant strains were detected, including 1 single drug resistant strain and 6 multi drug resistant stains. The Salmonella anatum strain was resistant to 9 antibiotics. Conclusion The detection rate of Salmonella in infectious diarrhea patients in Yuyao declined from 2007 to 2009, and the serotypes of detected strains were different. Salmonella anatum was multi drug resistant. Cephalosporins and quinolones were effective in the treatment of Salmonella infection.
