Investigation and response to the first case of meningococcal disease W135 in Jiangsu province in 2011

To investigate the clinical features and epidemiological characteristics of the first case of meningococcal disease serogroup W135 in Jiangsu province and evaluate the response measures. This was the first case of meningococcal disease serogroup W 135 reported in Jiangsu in 2011. The patient aggravated rapidly and died at last. No effective measures were taken for the prevention and control of the disease. It is necessary to strengthen the surveillance of meningococcal disease serogroup W135, conduct standard prevention and control and evaluate the effect of vaccination against meningococcal disease serogroup W135 in high risk population.
