Sentinel surveillance of influenza like illness in Zhongwei city in Ningxia,2010

Objective To understand the incidence of influenza in Zhongwei in Ningxia in 2010. Methods The throat swabs were collected from the patients with febrile illness in 2 sentinel hospitals in Zhongwei to conduct influenza viruses detection by using real time quantitative PCR and reverse transcription PCR. Results Totally 11 cases of influenza A (H1N1) pdm 09, 161 cases of influenza B and 71 cases of influenza A (H3) were detected. Conclusion No differences on incidence of influenza was observed in different areas in Zhongwei, but the age specific differences were found. The incidence of different type influenza had its seasonality. The infection of influenza viruses was closed related with peoples lifestyle.
