Incidences of class A and B communicable diseases in Mile county in Yunnan province, 2001-2010

  • Objective To understand the incidence trend of class A and B communicable diseases in Mile and provide scientific evidence for developing the prevention and control measures of communicable diseases. Methods The statistical analysis was conducted on the incidence data of class A and B communicable diseases in Mile from 2001 to 2010. Results A total of 8661 cases of 17 communicable diseases in class A and B were reported during this period, the average annual incidence was 172.04/lakh. Totally 83 death cases were reported, the average annual death rate was 1.65/lakh. The first 5 leading diseases were typhus/paratyphoid, viral hepatitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, dysentery and gonorrhea. Conclusion Communicable diseases still pose great challenge to public health in Mile. The major diseases are food borne diseases, blood borne and sexual transmitted diseases. AIDS and rabies are the main death causes of communicable diseases. It is necessary to further strengthen the prevention and the control of these communicable diseases.
