Molecular epidemiology of a cute gastroenteritis outbreak caused by Sapovirus in Adults

  • Objective To understand the etiology of a gastroenteritis outbreak in adults. Methods The stool samples were collected from the patients to conduct detections of Saimonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Bacillus proteus, Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Campylobacter jejuni and Listeria monocytogenes according to national standard. Norovirus and Sapovirus nucleotide were detected by using RT-PCR, and PCR amplification products were cloned and sequenced. A phylogenetic tree was constructed by using Mega 3.1 software. Results Four of 7 diarrhea patients samples were Sapovirus positive, The homology between 4 strains of Sapovirus and reference strain of Sapovirus GⅠ.2 ranged from 94.7% to 98.4%. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that Shenzhen Sapovirus strain were in same cluster with Sapovirus Hu/Oshima1/2009/JP,Houston/90(U95644), Parkville/94/U73124 and belonged to GⅠ. 2. Conclusion The outbreak of gastroenteritis in adults was caused by Sapovirus GⅠ. 2.
